Sports Memorabilia History

You might learn sports memorabilia history from your grandfather, who lived to tell the tales of rare moments in history, because he was at the event and saw the action up close and personal. These sports memories are fond ones, and are related on days when the children gather around on the porch because rain is keeping them from playing in the yard.

People place a lot of importance on sports memorabilia history, because it is that history that helps them support their families. Sports memorabilia retailers learn a lot about the sports that surround their business, and know truly collectible items are genuine when they see the various holograms attached to the sporting products that they have in their sports memorabilia collectibles inventories.

Other people prefer to reflect back on the sports memorabilia history by viewing historic football games that were captured on video tape. These tapes explore all of the mythical history that surrounds football clubs, and tell about the rich history of any football franchise. The early days of baseball, football and hockey can be viewed time and again, to all family generations that want to learn about sports memorabilia history.

In sports memorabilia history there is a great amount of humor, and commentary to be heard during games gone by the wayside, but preserved on audio tapes that reflect the blow by blow sports memorabilia history in its true form. Some of these sportscasters are no longer with us, but a part of them remains behind in sports memorabilia history caught on tape.

Other sports memorabilia history items will make time stand still. When you can hold sports memorabilia history in your hand, by forming your fingers around a collectible baseball that was signed by the great Stan the Man, Stan Musial, then you have a true piece of history that comes directly from a man who was awarded Most Valuable Player three times, and played in 24 All-Star games.

Perhaps you would want to own a piece of sports memorabilia history that was hand-signed by a man that broke many records. When you hold a bat signed by the great Hank Aaron, you have in your hands the tool used to make him the lifetime leader in total runs batted in and total bases earned.

This piece of history does not occur but once in a lifetime, and when you have this type of sports memorabilia history in an honored corner of your living room, encased behind a glass display case created especially to display this sacred piece of history, then you are indeed rich in sports memorabilia history.

Sports memorabilia history is reflected in the achievements of such greats as Peyton Manning, Michael Jordan and Larry Bird. The stellar records that these people amassed over a lifetime career, are true reflections of sports memorabilia history.

When a persons accomplishments are so staggering that everyone that views them will be impressed to know that Peyton Manning threw a football more than 33,000 yard, and scored more than 240 touchdowns during his still active career. A hand-signed National Football League football will be a great gift for any Indianapolis Colts fan to enjoy for years to come.

The Power of Manning

October 16th, 2009 | Posted in Dating   Comments Off
David Wygant asked:

Cut that meat! Hey Bill - You’re my favorite accountant! Whoa Jim, throw some dirt on that! Nice arm! (As the paperboy flings the paper right through the window)

Who would have thought that, we would be talking about Peyton Manning’s younger maligned brother Eli? Look at Peyton Manning… commercial star, Super Bowl winner, and one of the NFL’s greatest quarterbacks ever to play the game.

So how do Peyton and Eli Manning relate to dating? Have you ever gone out with a friend who is so good with women that you become intimidated even to open your mouth? Then when you do open your mouth you feel that what you’re about to say could potentially be the wrong thing… so you say nothing.

You don’t say a word.

When Eli Manning came out of college at Ole Miss, he was known only as ‘Peyton Manning’s little brother.’ The pressure to succeed was unbelievable!

Not only that, he was in New York City by virtue of being traded for extra draft picks.

His first few years in the league, he was ridiculed. Every night on ESPN there was talk about how we would NEVER be as good as his brother.

Every throw was broken down. Every interception was analyzed.

Tiki Barber called Eli Manning out, saying that he would never be a winner and that the team would never win with him playing quarterback. His coach almost got fired… and had that occurred, Tom Coughlin would never have had the frostbite he had at the end of the Green Bay game.

In light of all of this, what did Eli do? Did he quit? Did he let people get to him? No… he kept going.
___________________________________________________________________

He learned to manage his game.

Think about this for a second. A lot of guys think that meeting a woman is a game. There’s even a book out there called “Rules Of The Game.”

Here is what I say about “Rules Of The Game.” There are no rules… and there is no game! It’s about being true to yourself and staying on course.

Eli never quit . . . ever. He kept going and going and going. He decided that he was going to ignore all the critics, and that he would become the best quarterback he could be.

He’ll never be his brother, but when this Super Bowl is over two Mannings will have gone to the Super Bowl. Win or lose, not many quarterbacks can say they have played in a Super Bowl.

So when you’re going out to meet women, stop comparing yourself to the Peyton Mannings of the dating world. Keep practicing. If you throw an interception (which in the dating world would mean getting rejected), keep flirting and keep talking.

I guarantee that if you work on your gamesmanship, you’ll get to the Super Bowl of dating… fast! You may not be there today, but look at everyone who has perfected skills.

They have been through lots of time invested, frustration, lots of hard work and self-criticism.

Does any of this sound familiar in terms of how you feel when you approach women? Do you feel like Eli Manning at times?

If so, then it’s time to look to your own inner Eli Manning. Isn’t it time you stayed on course, and kept working on your skills every day? Yes, this is another David Wygant / Vince Lombardi speech.

Football season is almost over. I am not a basketball fan, as you can tell from yesterday’s newsletter where I referenced passing up floor seats to be with a woman.

Personally I would rather hang out with a woman than go to a basketball game. Baseball is very slow, and it doesn’t fit the newsletter very well.

Football is very “rah rah,” though, so I have at least one more Vince Lombardi / Newt Rockney speech in me. That speech will of course come out around Super Bowl time.

In the meantime, you have two weeks before the Super Bowl to go out and tap into your inner Eli… and to enjoy the ride and the journey.

Jacksonville Falls to the Perfect Patriots

October 16th, 2009 | Posted in Football   Comments Off
John Turvik asked:

Another victim has fallen once again to the Patriots after Jacksonville loses 31-20 in Foxboro. Tom Brady was almost perfect in this game going 26-of-28 for 262 yards and 3 touchdowns. He started off the game going 16 for 16, a single game postseason record, to break Phil Simms record for completion percentage in a game. Brady stayed very calm throughout the game and calmly took what the soft Jacksonville cover game him. The Jaguars where unable to pressure Brady into any interceptions as they pretty much stayed with their base front four rushing him in passing situations.

Jacksonville was so worried about giving up the big play to Randy Moss that they kept their safeties deep all game leaving the short routes wide open for Brady to hit eight different receivers and have an almost perfect passing percentage. Jack Del Rio never adjusted his defense all game long and ended up paying the price for it. Even though Jacksonville was in this game throughout, you never got the sense that they could get a lead on the Patriots.

Free Sports Picks - Sports Locks

New England played error free football with no interceptions, no fumbles and winning the time of possession. Jacksonville on the other hand ended up with two turnovers both coming from David Garrard whom threw one and fumbled one. The only way Jacksonville was winning this game was if they two played error free and found a way to use their running game to keep New England off the field.

The league’s second-most productive duo during the regular season combined for just 66 yards. It ended up being the Patriots whom dominated the running game as Laurence Maroney rushed for 122 yards, including a 1 yard touchdown. The Patriots game played out in almost identical fashion as the Green Bay- Seattle game that played before. Green Bay dominated the running game as well as the time of possession while the Seahawks only got 20 yards on the ground from their star running back. In both games the underdog team forgot the run very early in the game which ended up being the downfall of them. Once the run was left behind it gave the opposing defenses the advantage by allowing them to drop more people into coverage.

Norv Tuner will have to learn from the mistakes that Jacksonville made if he’s going to have a shot next weekend. LaDanian Tomlinson and quarterback Phillip Rivers where both injured during Sunday’s contest against the Indianapolis Colts. It will be very interesting to see how Norv Turner game plans for the Patriots if these two starts cant’s compete. The only way San Diego will have a chance against the Patriots is if they can stick to the running game throughout the contest. New England going into the Jacksonville game was allowing 4.4 yards on the ground and most of those yards where right up the gut of New England’s line.

Free Sports Picks - Sports Locks

The Patriots failed to cover the -13.5 point spread against the Jags, but the total did just go over 49 by posting a combined total of 51. New England has had trouble covering these big spreads especially in the second half of the season. This should be a big heads-up for handicappers when it comes time for their bout against the San Diego Chargers. Their’s plenty of football left to be played and it will be a test for the Patriots next week as they host the Chargers. Lets see if Tom Brady and the New England Patriots can continue to play error free football and stay down the path to a perfect season.

Nfl Tickets – Fantasy: Top 5 Tight Ends

October 15th, 2009 | Posted in Football   Comments Off
Morgan Dunn asked:

Historically, the tight end position has not featured very many players who have helped sell NFL tickets, but in more recent years the position has evolved. There are now a number of tight ends who post impressive receiving numbers year in and year out. Here I rank the tight ends who I think will turn in the five best fantasy performances this season.

1. Antonio Gates, San Diego: This collegiate basketball player turned NFL star is hands down the best tight end in the league. His combination of speed, size, hands and the ability to use his body make him basically uncoverable. Gates is quarterback Philip Rivers’ favorite target and consistently puts up incredible numbers for a tight end. He’s one of the many players on the Chargers whose playmaking ability help sell NFL tickets in San Diego.

2. Jason Witten, Dallas: Witten is Tony Romo’s number two option behind Terrell Owens. Witten is big, strong and has great hands. In Dallas’ pass-happy offense, Witten gets plenty of balls thrown his way. He’ll consistently put up top-tier tight end numbers for years to come.

3. Dallas Clark, Indianapolis: Peyton Manning and the Colts love to run two-tight end sets and Clark is one of Manning’s favorite targets. If Marvin Harrison has trouble staying healthy again, the team is going to depend heavily on Clark. He had a breakout season in 2007 and should only improve in 2008.

4. Kellen Winslow, Cleveland: We all know he’s “a soldier,” but he’s also the son of one of the greatest tight ends in the history of the game, Kellen Winslow Sr. Winslow has the talent to be the best tight end in the league and has put together some really good seasons thus far. His athleticism and speed are off the charts for a player of his size and strength, making him a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses.

5. Tony Gonzalez, Kansas City: This receiving tight end trend is so new that there was a time in Gonzo’s career that he was pretty much the only consistent receiving threat in the NFL other than Shannon Sharpe. He’s not the first guy to do it, but he’s seemed to help usher in its acceptance more than any other player. Tony is not what he used to be, but he’s still a top five fantasy tight end. Quarterback Brodie Croyle should use him a lot.

Some up and coming tight ends I’d also keep an eye on are Vernon Davis and Heath Miller. Never has the NFL had so many tight ends so skilled in the passing game. These guys serve as an extra receiver and make the game more exciting, only increasing sales in NFL tickets.

Betting the Nfl: Opening Week (sept. 6-10) Trends

October 14th, 2009 | Posted in Football   Comments Off
Karol Lucan asked:

THURSDAY, SEPT. 6

New Orleans at Indianapolis: The Saints have covered four of their last five meetings with the Colts but Indianapolis has been strong out of the gate, notching a 6-1-1 mark against the spread (ATS) in its last eight season openers.

SUNDAY, SEPT. 9

Denver at Buffalo: The Broncos have been a solid road favorite over the past four seasons, notching an 11-7-1 mark ATS. Buffalo is 7-1 ATS at home preceding back-to-back road games. The Bills head to Pittsburgh and New England after hosting Denver.

Pittsburgh at Cleveland: The Steelers have covered seven straight games against the Browns, including four in a row in Cleveland. The Browns are 2-9 as division underdogs of seven points or less. The line opened with Pittsburgh favored by a field goal.

Philadelphia at Green Bay: The Eagles have covered seven of their last eight meetings with the Packers, including three straight in Green Bay. The Packers are 1-7 as a home underdog the last four years, including 0-5 last season, and are 1-7 ATS their last eight home games against non-conference foes.

Kansas City at Houston: Houston is 1-5 ATS at home against a non-division opponent in September but Kansas City is a pathetic 1-10 ATS as a non-conference road favorite. The Chiefs opened as a 1-point underdog but the line could switch so watch this one closely.

Tennessee at Jacksonville: Jacksonville has covered eight consecutive openers. Forget about the money line; the straight up (SU) winner also is 22-2 ATS in the Tennessee-Jacksonville series.

Atlanta at Minnesota: The Falcons are 4-1 ATS their last five games versus the Vikings, including 3-1 their last four trips to Minnesota. Atlanta is 16-10-1 ATS in season openers since 1980.

New England at New York Jets: The Patriots have covered five of their last six encounters with the Jets and have a streak of eight straight pointspread wins against them in New York. New England also is 16-8 ATS versus the division the past four years.

Carolina at St. Louis: The Panthers have covered the spread four games in a row against the Rams. Since 1980, St. Louis is 7-13-1 ATS as an opening game favorite.

Miami at Washington: The Redskins have covered four of their last five meetings with the Dolphins but Miami also is 7-1 ATS on the road versus non-conference foes.

Detroit at Oakland: The Raiders have covered four of their last five meetings with the Lions. Since 1980, Oakland is 7-2 ATS in home openers.

Chicago at San Diego: The Bears have covered four straight games versus the Chargers and own the AFC West with a remarkable 17-2-1 record ATS the last 20 meetings. Chicago is 7-3 ATS as an underdog in season openers the last 27 years.

Tampa Bay at Seattle: The Buccaneers are 1-7 ATS versus non-conference opponents their last eight and are 1-3 ATS versus the Seahawks their last four meetings. Seattle is 17-3 ATS in September versus less than .500 SU competition.

New York Giants at Dallas: The Giants are undefeated (5-0-1 ATS) in their last six games against the Cowboys and are 3-1-1 ATS versus them in Dallas. The Cowboys are 6-7 ATS as a favorite on opening day.

MONDAY, SEPT. 10

Baltimore at Cincinnati: The Bengals have covered four of their last five against the Ravens. The favorite in the Ravens-Bengals series (Cincinnati opened -3) is 6-1 the last seven games. Baltimore is 13-11 ATS on Monday Night Football, including 2-4 as a road underdog. Cincy is 5-10 ATS on MNF, including 1-1 as a home favorite.

Arizona at San Francisco: The Cardinals have covered three of their last four meetings with the Niners. Since 1980, Arizona is 2-6 ATS on Monday Night Football, but has never been a road underdog. With an ATS record of 33-13-1, San Francisco is the champion of MNF. The Niners are a superb 16-5-1 in the role of home favorite.

Are the above Sportsbook busters guaranteed? Of course not. But historians point out that by studying the past we’re better equipped to predict the future. That may be true for sports betting, too.

Online Unsecured Loan: Quick Asset-free Money for your Needs

October 14th, 2009 | Posted in Loans   Comments Off
Simon Peyton asked:

The borrowers can take up online unsecured loans without pledging any assets with the lender as collateral for the loan. This makes this loan available to the tenants and non-homeowners who do not have assets of their own. Even the adults who are living in their parent’s house can take up online unsecured loans. Also, the homeowners who do not want to risk their assets for money can take up online unsecured loans.

Online unsecured loans are simple personal loans which do not require any collateral and are borrowed for a short term. Through online unsecured loans, to fulfill needs like debt consolidation, educational expenses, wedding expenses, home improvement, car purchase, medical expenses etc an amount in the range of £1000-£25000 can be taken up by the borrower.

For repayment of online unsecured loans, the borrower can use tenure of 6 months to 10 years. Since the loan is collateral-free, it carries a risk of non-repayment of the loan amount to the lender. So to cut down the risk factor involved, the borrower is charged a slightly higher rate of interest. To cut down the rate of interest of online unsecured loan, the borrower can take up a research to compare the rates of all loan deals. This research when conducted online will help in getting very low rate deals as numerous lenders compete in the online market.

Bad credit borrowers can also take up online unsecured loans but at slightly higher rate. This rate can be lowered by proving good repayment ability with the help of bank records and also by researching online.

Online unsecured loan is an easy way to use money for needs without the trouble of pledging collateral. All these factors make borrowing money very easy for the common man.

How to Profit Betting Nfl Season Totals

October 12th, 2009 | Posted in Sports And Fitness   Comments Off
lazysubmit asked:

When two teams go to the Super Bowl, the toughest challenge they face the following season is living up to the success of the past season.

Expectations from playoff teams are always high at the beginning of a new season, mostly because of their recent success from the prior year, as their successful season is still fresh in the public’s mind. Therefore, these teams are viewed in a positive light and the bookmakers will inflate their season total wins.

Keeping that in mind, let’s review the past 11 NFL seasons and see how the Super Bowl winners and losers have done the following year. Since 1995, the Super Bowl winner made the playoffs the following year 8 out of 11 times for 72.7% with the average season total of wins being 11.75 games. However, it’s a different scenario for the Super Bowl loser, as they’ve only advanced 5 out of 11 times and those other 6 teams who didn’t make the playoffs, their average season wins the following year was 6.0 games.

Now, from a weekly ATS betting perspective and keeping in mind perception being the bookmaker’s friend, the betting public will always have “last week” syndrome when betting football. Most novice bettors tend to look back to the last weekend when doing their weekly picks and an experience handicapper will take last week’s results with a grain of salt and focus on the current situation at hand. In fact, when looking at those 22 teams who went to the Super Bowl from 1995 to 2006, the public’s perception has been that since they went to the Super Bowl last year, they should have a good season and cover the spread most weeks. However, as you can see from the chart below, only 6 teams out of 22 had a successful ATS season the following year with the OVER/UNDER edge going towards the UNDER.

In summary, if you look at the teams who’ve been successful the following season after going to the Super Bowl, you can clearly see those were teams of destiny with Hall of fame QB’s. Therefore, this brings us to the Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears for the upcoming 2007 season. Manning is clearly a Hall of Fame QB and with the consistency the Indianapolis Colts have displayed in the past, it would be tough to bet the UNDER in their total season wins. However, my top recommendation for the 2007 season is to bet the UNDER on the total season wins for the Chicago Bears. The Bears relied heavily on their defense last season and were beneficiaries of a soft schedule in my opinion. But that won’t be the case this season; they will have a tough challenge right out of the gate, which could lead them to a 0-3 start. With that said, I look for the bears to have a 7-9 SU season in ’07 and would recommend betting the UNDER on their total season wins when the numbers come out.

Enjoy the ’07 campaign.

Indianapolis Lays Off Offseason Priorities

October 10th, 2009 | Posted in Hobbies   Comments Off
Robert asked:

Colts president Bill Polian has embarked on his usual off to do list saying they might be forced to move the training camp.  He is currently involved with negotiations with agents to keep the players that are preparing for the draft and dealing with NFL salary cap rules, though things seems to be a bit tougher this year. The NFL revised cap rules and the economy have led to the current financial pinch for the colts, forcing the team to look for other options including a possible option of having to change their training camp.

Just like any other person in the country, expense are an issue to them as a team, they have opted to look at everything they do to cut down on the cost be it travelling cost or training camp. One area that they really need to look at is the training camp, they need to decide on where they should be training.

For the past ten years colts have been holding camp in Terre Haute but their contract came to an end and now they are considering returning to Andersons which they used to call home for close to 14 years before moving to Terre Haute. Anderson is near Indianapolis thus will be the better option for the team.

Not only is the training camp an issue to the team but recently they announced that they are cutting down 25 jobs in the front office alone and as if that is not enough they are trying to re-sign three of their prominent free agents. Polian would love to re-sign all the three but he considers the one who won the top priority starting job two years ago. All is not well with the negotiations though it looks like they will be forced to go for the franchise tag or something else, polian is yet to disclose how much they need but he has agreed to convert some of the roster bonus into a signing bonus as one way of clearing room under the cap.

Doing this will help the team to spread the money out over the years. The choice he is going to take will determine how much more money is going to remain to cater for the other players which may force the team to look for ways of cutting other veterans. The cuts are going to come with hefty prices too.

These being the last year of the salary cap new rules are there. This year for example if players with expensive bonuses clauses are cut then it will be the team’s responsibility to take the value fully of the bonus remaining. The money used to be prorated over the contracts life over the past years. So if a player received a $10 million bonus on a 5 year deal, teams will have to pay $ 2 million a year. And if the player is cut when he’s got only two years remaining on his contract, the team would take a $4 million cap hit in the same.

Polian says they are not sure if the projected $123 million cap will stand, possibilities are it could go up. Adding that they have not had a cap problem for the last 11 years but this year they have. It will depend on what is going to happen as for now they do not know yet.
