New York Jets tickets are always a perfect way to enjoy some great football. The Jets have had their share of glorious years and tough times but they have always managed to play some hard hitting football, no matter what. The Jets are currently playing well and look like they may be strong contenders for some big wins in the future.

The New York Jets are affiliated with the American Football Conference and the AFC East as part of the National Football League. The Jets play their home games at Giants Stadium and currently have one Super Bowl win and four Division titles to their name. They at present have no Conference wins to their name.

Starting Out Big

The New York Jets were founded in 1960 and by 1965 they had established themselves as a force to contend with in football. They were helped of course by the presence of one of football’s greatest players, Joe Namath who was also responsible for the sale of a number of New York Jets tickets. Under Namath, the team became one of the strongest teams on the field. At the time, the team was under the AFL and made history when they beat the NFL team, the Baltimore Colts. This was seen as much more than an ordinary victory, as the AFL was generally seen as being inferior to the NFL.

The seventies proved to be a much different story for the Jets, mainly because their hero Namath was becoming bogged down with injuries, particularly to the knees. Namath played very little and when he did, it was just not up to the mark. Namath would eventually leave the team in 1976 and it was only after his departure that the team began to improve. This showed how much the team depended on Namath at the time.

The New York Sack Exchange and High Hopes

The eighties and indeed the New York Jets are often remembered for a team of players who became known as the New York Sack Exchange. Many fans bought New York Jets tickets just to see this tremendous defensive line up that was feared by many teams on the football field. This however was one of few bright points for the team. The Jets were facing stadium problems and by the time they got a place to play, the started off on the wrong foot with a 7-9 record.

But New York Jets tickets were in high demand in the nineties, as many fans hoped the team would be able to turn things around. The Jets did not disappoint, pulling in a successful season in 1991 and winning back the respect and love of the fans. The team continued to play well in the following years and in 2006, the coaching staff underwent extensive reorganizing, both in the offensive and defensive quarters. Today, fans hope to see the Jets focused on bringing home some big title wins and New York Jets tickets are selling fast. Don’t miss your chance to see the Jets as they play their signature brand of winning football. You can always order your New York Jets tickets online through an authorized vendor.

Indianapolis Colts’ Corey Simon

Julie Smith asked:

The Indianapolis Colts have announced that Corey Simon who used to be a Pro Bowl defensive tackle will not take part during the rest of the season since he was placed on the non-football illness-injury list last Thursday.

Simon’s illness wasn’t divulged by citing federal privacy laws in order to protect his own privacy.

The football player who is the Colt’s squad biggest defensive lineman (300 pounds) had a lot of expectations lying on his shoulders but he hasn’t been able to practice or play since he beat his knee in August. After this injury Simon underwent arthroscopic surgery but according to a written statement that was issued by the team’s President Bill Polian: the injury and illness weren’t connected.

Indianapolis Colt’s President declared that Simon’s illness is not related to football and it doesn’t threaten his life but it affects the football player limiting his ability to condition, practice and play and it has also been weakening for him.

Apparently Corey has lately shown some improvement but he is not ready to go back to the football field yet or any time soon. Simon’s condition has remained a mystery for the last few weeks.

Corey Simon used to play with the Philadelphia Eagles but after a contract dispute they released him on August 28 and four days later was signed by the Indianapolis Colts to a multiyear contract full of expectations for the player. But Simon started struggling with his weight and had to learn a new defense.

Simon finished with 31 tackles, no sacks, forced one fumble last season, and did not play at his previous Pro Bowl level.

When he reported to training camp he said he had lost between 20 to 25 pounds so he would have a better season. But it didn’t work out that well for him. Everybody expects he will return for the next season.

The Brief History Of The Baltimore Ravens

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008
Rick Grantham asked:

A professional American Football Team, the Baltimore Ravens is based in Baltimore, Maryland. They are a member of the National Football League (NFL), the largest American football league in the planet, and are one of four member teams in the American Football Conference (AFC) North Division. The Ravens’ football uniforms are colored black, gold, and purple. They play at the PSINet Stadium in Baltimore.

The Birth of the Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens was founded after the 1995 NFL season, when Arthur B. Modell, owner of what was then Cleveland Browns, decided to move his team to Baltimore and renamed it as the Ravens (a new Cleveland Browns franchise was put up in 1999), which came from Edgar Allan Poe’s poem “The Raven” (Poe lived in Baltimore during the 1830s). Modell brought with him a team of veteran football players including running back Earnest Byner and quarterback Vinny Testaverde, and hired Ted Marchibroda, former Baltimore Colts coach, to lead the new Ravens team. Despite the roster of star players and a long record of wins for Marchibroda in the mid-1970s when he was handling the Colts, the Ravens struggled in the 1996 and 1997 NFL season, and ended up finishing at the bottom. After the 1997 season, Testaverde left the team and signed with the New York Jets as a free agent. In the 1998 season, the Ravens had six wins and ten losses, and it was then that the Ravens hired Brian Billick, Minnesota Vikings offensive, as their head coach.

Three Consecutive Losing Seasons

The Ravens didn’t have a successful beginning as it flopped in its first two seasons. The 1996 Season was the first season of the Ravens, where they played at the old Memorial Stadium of Baltimore and finishing a dismal record of 4-12. The 1997 season was more promising, starting off with a record of 3-1. Ravens player Peter Boulware also got the AFC Defensive Rookie of the Year Award having 11.5 sacks. When the season ended, however, the Ravens finished with a score of 6-9-1. Vinny Testaverde who then left for the New York Jets, was replaced by Jim Harbaugh, originally from Indianapolis Colts and then later by Eric Zeier. Priest Holmes, running 1,000 yards for the Ravens, also joined the team, as well as cornerback Rod Woodson. Still, the Ravens lost 6-10. Marchibroda was finally replaced by Brian Billick as head coach in 1999. The 1999 season was a big improvement , managing an 8-8 record.

The 2000 Super Bowl Championship

Under the wing of Brian Billick in the 2000 NFL season, the Ravens rebuilt their team and strengthened their defense. They became more aggressive and picky with free agent signings and draft pick ups. Led by one of the top defenders and leading tacklers in MFL history, linebacker Ray Lewis, the Ravens achieved a record-low 165 defense and allowed only 23 points in the postseason. In the Super Bowl XXXV, they finally won a 34-7 victory against the New York Giants and was announced as the champion for that season.

The Biggest Loser In NFL History

Monday, November 10th, 2008
Rick Grantham asked:

In their nine decades of playing football, the Arizona Cardinals have lost a total of 664 games, 57% of all the games they have played. Since 1947, they have won only one playoff game, and since 1984, had only one winning season. In 86 years, they have won over ten games five times compared to the Philadelphia Eagles, England Patriots, and Indianapolis Colts, which have all won over ten games, at least five times in the past seven years.

The Oldest American Football Club

The Cardinals is the oldest American football club, originally formed in 1989 and was then named the Morgan Athletic Club, based in Chicago. The team was then called the Racine Normals (because they were located in Chicago’s Racine Avenue) and was later changed to the Racine Cardinals. It was then that they started wearing dark red uniforms which were taken from the football college team, the Chicago Maroons. It was in 1920 that the Cardinals officially became a member of the NFL and was renamed the Chicago Cardinals. During World War II, in 1944, the Cardinals merged temporarily with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and were thus referred to as the Card-Pitt team, just for one season. In 1960, the Cardinals then moved to St. Louis Missouri and became the St. Louis Cardinals. They earned the moniker “The Big Red” due to a series of success in the 1970s. After failing to acquire a stadium in St. Louis solely for football, the Cardinals moved to Phoenix in 1988 and were named the Phoenix Cardinals. By 1994, it was officially known as the Arizona Cardinals. Today, they are based in Glendale Arizona in the outskirts of Phoenix and are members of the National Football Conference, Western Division and the National Football League (NFL). In 2006, all home games of the Cardinals were played at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, instead of the Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe where they played at for 17 years.

No Super Bowl for the Cardinals

The Cardinals is one of six NFL teams who never made it to the Super Bowl including the Detroit Lions, the Cleveland Browns, the New Orleans Saints, and the Jacksonville Jaguars. The team’s only NFL championship game was in 1947, two decades before the Super Bowl was instituted. The other championship was in 1925, eight easy before NFL held championship games. Since 1947, the Cardinals have qualified only five times for the playoffs and won only one playoff game, a poor record shared only by one other team, the Detroit Lions.

Cardinals’ Big Turnaround

In recent years, however, the Cardinals is looking at a major overhaul and makeover with the son’s owner Michael Bidwill taking over the team in lieu of his father, William V. Bidwill. Michael took over as president and has recently invested on a new stadium, a marketing staff, and a larger share of revenues. Just last year, 2007, the Cardinals saw an increase of 20% revenue, to $189 million. The team is not worth $888 million, a 13% increase from the year before. Today, they are attracting better players and spending on equipment and training.
