Indianapolis Colts Unstoppable

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009
Chuck Berkley asked:

What made this game so interesting to watch, was the fact that the Pittsburgh Steelers are the type of team that scores big time on the 1st quarter, keeps it simple and safe on 2nd and 3rd, but comes back to settle the scores on the 4th.

I was putting my expectations on Pittsburgh, as that terrible interception just 3 minutes before conclusion left a bitter taste on the Colts front line and there was the fact as well that Indianapolis has been struggling 40 years in Steelers ground, so the stat favored my decision. As I learned from this game, the game is not over until the last second.

Colts quarterback Peyton Manning gave Roethlisberger a good reason to say “not over till the fat lady sings” when at the end, the coin tossed in favor of the Colts. The 240 yards Manning threw during game time, proved once more, that even a strong and wall-built team such as the Steelers is vulnerable to fall down under pressure. And what can we say about Manning, who in the past 3 games has achieved two TD passes-in on each; and although, many fans feel uncomfortable with Manning’s full-of-surprises style, this time it worked perfectly.

The strange situation here is the fact, that it’s becoming a Mannings tend to break the Steelers faith when they play in Pittsburgh; Eli did it last October the 26th at the end of the 4th, with a final score of 21-14 Giants favored and of course Peyton this past Sunday.

Everybody knew the game was over for the Steelers when reaching the end of the last quarter, those last seconds were telling a story for the team. In extreme anxiety Roethlisberger’s threw into the end zone sightless and was crushed by the defense; a very bad move because that interception went straight to Melvin Bullitts’ hands. The interception not only outplayed Roethlisberger to loose the game for his team, but it was his 3rd interception of the game… not looking to sweet for Roethlisberger at the moment, especially with the first two interceptions, which cost the squad 14 points in total.

Roethlisberger has 8 interceptions in 8 weeks, which in fact is not a bad stat for a QB, but making those errors during the final minutes of game time is definitely unforgivable.

Let’s look at some history and stats for a moment; in Pittsburgh the Colts are 2-12, making the last win for Indy back in 1968 and the first time after 12 attempts this 2008. The good news for the Steelers is that in the AFC this 2008, they are 5-1 on the board.

Now, the Manning-led team is happy and the Steelers are at practice reviewing the game video over and over again, perhaps wondering how come the 40 year nightmare could finally end for the Colts.

Betting Nfl Totals

How to Profit Betting NFL regular season totals:

By Ron Raymond of www.phoenixsports.com

When two teams go to the Super Bowl, the toughest challenge they face the following season is living up to the success of the past season. Expectations from playoff teams are always high at the beginning of a new season, mostly because of their recent success from the prior year, as their successful season is still fresh in the public’s mind. Therefore, these teams are viewed in a positive light and the bookmakers will inflate their season total wins.

Keeping that in mind, let’s review the past 11 NFL seasons and see how the Super Bowl winners and losers have done the following year. Since 1995, the Super Bowl winner made the playoffs the following year 8 out of 11 times for 72.7% with the average season total of wins being 11.75 games. However, it’s a different scenario for the Super Bowl loser, as they’ve only advanced 5 out of 11 times and those other 6 teams who didn’t make the playoffs, their average season wins the following year was 6.0 games.

Now, from a weekly ATS betting perspective and keeping in mind perception being the bookmaker’s friend, the betting public will always have “last week” syndrome when betting football. Most novice bettors tend to look back to the last weekend when doing their weekly picks and an experience handicapper will take last week’s results with a grain of salt and focus on the current situation at hand. In fact, when looking at those 22 teams who went to the Super Bowl from 1995 to 2006, the public’s perception has been that since they went to the Super Bowl last year, they should have a good season and cover the spread most weeks. However, as you can see from the chart below, only 6 teams out of 22 had a successful ATS season the following year with the OVER/UNDER edge going towards the UNDER.

In summary, if you look at the teams who’ve been successful the following season after going to the Super Bowl, you can clearly see those were teams of destiny with Hall of fame QB’s. Therefore, this brings us to the Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears for the upcoming 2007 season. Manning is clearly a Hall of Fame QB and with the consistency the Indianapolis Colts have displayed in the past, it would be tough to bet the UNDER in their total season wins. However, my top recommendation for the 2007 season is to bet the UNDER on the total season wins for the Chicago Bears. The Bears relied heavily on their defense last season and were beneficiaries of a soft schedule in my opinion. But that won’t be the case this season; they will have a tough challenge right out of the gate, which could lead them to a 0-3 start.

Ron’s Pick: With that said, I look for the bears to have a 7-9 SU season in ’07 and would recommend betting the UNDER on their total season wins when the numbers come out.

Ticket America Has Your Cleveland Browns Tickets

Wednesday, February 18th, 2009
IC asked:

Cleveland, Ohio — the Browns is a professional football team which plays for the North division of the American football conference of the NFL, the team itself goes back to 1946 when it started as a charter member of the AAFC but it wasn’t until 1950 when the Browns joined the NFL under the merger agreement with the AAFC. The Cleveland Browns have for the most part played for the American football conference Central and recently for the AFC North division.

Championships and Important Moments:

The Cleveland Browns history of success starts even before the AAFC merged with the NFL, the Browns is the only team which won all four AAFC titles (1946 through 1949) and it even had a completely undefeated season during 1948. In addition, the team also packs four NFL championships, the team was titled champion in 1950 when they defeated the Los Angeles Rams by a margin of 30 to 28, their hard work paid off once again in 1954 when they obliterated the Detroit Lions by a margin of 56 to 10, in 1955 the team takes revenge on the Los Angeles Rams after their defeat in 1951 — this time the Browns were able to beat them by a score of 38 to 14 and last but not least the Cleveland Browns show what they are made off when they completely buried the Baltimore Colts by a score of 27 to zero.

Cleveland Browns Recent News:

Everyone seems to be very excited about the Browns in 2008, this includes Jamal Lewis who has recently signed up with the Browns after being released by the Baltimore Ravens (their AFC North rival) — Lewis says that his goals for the past and current season are straightforward, that means no nonsense and to the point.

As many may know Lewis has recently turned 28, but despite of his age he wants to prove he has something left which he did after having one of the best rushing years in Browns history. According to recent numbers Lewis had 1304 yards which puts him in second place only to the Pro football Hall of Famer Jim Brown. The 2008 season is sure to be an electrifying one for the Cleveland Browns fans and with so many record-breaking players it goes without saying that the tickets for such games will be sold as soon as they hit the market..
